Foundations of Homeland Security by Martin Alperen

My View

Homeland security can be viewed narrowly or expansively. We can plan to prevent, prepare for, and recover from a terrorist attack. This is a legitimate perspective. We can also take the broader view and work to make the world a better place where there will be fewer terrorists. This includes working to diminish and end environmental degradation, mitigate consequences of global warming, eliminate unsustainable demand for natural resources and energy, and striving to improve social justice everywhere.

Is this homeland security? Take action now to improve homeland security 20 years from now. What do you think?

We look forward to reviewing submissions and will make available to our readers both scholarly and popular articles that reflect many different aspects of this topic, always adhering to the highest editorial standards.

I also want to announce that my book has been published.

Foundations of Homeland Security, Law and Policy, is designed for an introductory course in homeland security. It contains edited statutes and policy documents organized in to twenty-four different topic areas. It also contains Chapter One, an Introduction and overview of the subject of homeland security, and brilliant contributing-author chapters about homeland security in Europe and homeland security in China and Japan.
