Who we are
Martin J. Alperen, Homeland Security Conultant.
After serving as a police officer, I attended law school and have been a practicing attorney since 1985. I am admitted to practice law in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and have worked in both the private and government sectors. I am past president of St. John Rescue, the first responder and search-and-rescue agency on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
I hold a M.A. degree in “Security Studies (Homeland Security and Defense)” from the U.S. Government-sponsored, Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security in Monterey, CA, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA, and a B.A. in Government from Connecticut College, New London, CT. I am one of only a handful of attorneys with the Homeland Security degree.
My book, “Foundations of Homeland Security, Law and Policy,” was published by Wiley & Sons in April, 2011.
